The politics of freebies speaks the sweet language of the great socialist concept of helping everyone and creating a sense of equity across all sections of society.

The common taxpayer, paying their GST on time, the one who clears all their taxes and files their ITR on time, is paying this for someone else. He doesn’t know whether that person is really entitled to such benefits. He could sleep peacefully if it were given to a BPL person, but he’s not sure about that.

Who cares about your vote? We’ve got 10 more. You pay the fucking taxes though!
